Plan and Specs

There were seventy nine Gulfstar 47′s built in St. Petersburg FL, essentially on a custom order basis. The first one rolled out during the late seventies and Bailando, as hull number 78, came during the final run in 1981. Each Sailmaster vessel, therefore, has it’s idiosyncrasies.

The drawing we share here doesn’t illustrate Bailando exactly as she is. For one, we erased the mizzen mast originally illustrating it as a ketch, whereas Bailando is a sloop. Without the mizzen in the way, our boom is actually a couple feet longer. Also, our mast is two feet taller.

On the interior, our salon doesn’t have a settee on the starboard side. We have two free-standing chairs instead. This was originally lamented, but we now know how convenient this flexibility has proven to be.

Though the drawing doesn’t show it, Bailando has two types of interior flooring. The salon has the then newly acclaimed parquet in teak while the traditional teak and holly striped floors occur elsewhere. This was also something to get used to, but now we actually see the beauty.

Holaaaaaaa!!
Besos, -Ruby
